Yoga is an excellent practice if you're looking to build both physical strength and flexibility, as well as cultivate mental resilience. Not only does yoga improve your body's endurance and mobility, but it also enhances your ability to focus and brings greater clarity to your daily life. However, yoga goes far beyond the physical body. The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit word yug, meaning "to unite" or "to join." Yoga is ultimately about connecting with your higher self or higher consciousness. Through breath control and mindfulness in various postures, the practice helps you master both the breath and the mind, fostering a deeper awareness of yourself.

If you're feeling stressed, yoga can be particularly beneficial. Stress impacts nearly every system in the body, and over time, it can impair your ability to concentrate, affect memory, disrupt digestion, interfere with sleep, and cause physical discomfort, such as muscle tension or back pain. Studies have shown that consistent yoga practice helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's relaxation response. This makes yoga one of the most effective methods for managing stress and mitigating its negative effects on both the body and mind.

To enjoy the mental and physical benefits of yoga, it is recommended to practice 2-3 times per week. You can either join the group classes or have a blended practice of group classes and personal practice at home. In that case, the guidance you receive during group classes will help you to strengthen your individual practice.
